About Dr. Sayaka Omori-Tanouchi, DTCM, L.Ac

Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Licensed Acupuncturist

Sayaka Tanouchi is a California Licensed Acupuncturist and Doctor of Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine whose path into healing began with a deep curiosity about the human body. She originally trained as a scientist, earning a PhD in Engineering from Keio University in Japan, and spent many years working in medical engineering and clinical research.  Her journey into Traditional Chinese Medicine was shaped by a personal experience with infertility treatment. Through her experience, Sayaka realised that while evidence-based science provides strong clinical effects and reproducibility, it cannot yet fully capture the complexity of the human body. TCM’s holistic approach often fills that gap, and she continually seeks to integrate both perspectives.

In her practice, Sayaka uses a range of therapeutic tools, including acupuncture, herbal medicine, moxibustion, cupping, medical massage, and dietary and supplement advice. Her clinical focus includes pain management, women’s health, fertility support, and emotional health, with each treatment thoughtfully tailored to the individual.

She integrates insights from Eastern medicine and Western medicine, aiming to offer patients clear, realistic guidance that supports motivation for lasting health.  Outside the clinic, she enjoys winemaking, tea ceremony, sewing, and playing pickleball, which help her maintain balance and mindfulness in everyday life.
